SYMPATHIES

Sincere sympathy to the brothers, sisters and extended families of the late Robert Sampson, Galbally who went to his just reward over the Christmas period.   May Robert's gentle soul rest in peace in God's Heavenly Kingdom.

Sincere sympathy to Margaret, Breda and John and extended families on the recent death of Joe Birrane, Gerah who went to his eternal reward a few days before Christmas.  Joe lived a very full life and carried out his daily duties up to the time of his death.  Joe was interred in Kilbehenny cemetery on Christmas Eve.  May Joe's gentle soul rest in peace in God's Heavenly Kingdom.

Sincere sympathy to the families of the late Maurice Keane, Leabamologga who went to his eternal reward over the Christmas period.  May Maurice's gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

D. F. CONDON'S CLOSING

Sad to see another well established institution in Lower Cork Street, Mitchelstown has closed its doors due to retirement of Prionsias and Kathleen Condon.  D.F. Condon's drapery was the "Dunnes" of the 50s & 60s era for clothes shopping.   Prionsias and Kathleen and, indeed, Margaret were the essence of friendliness when you entered the shop.  When you bought any items of clothing or otherwise, you were guaranteed good quality that lasted the test of time.  This scribe would like to take this opportunity to wish Prionsias and Kathleen the best of good health and many years of happiness in their retirement.   Margaret has taken up a position in another clothing shop (men's) and wish her the best of luck.

BINS IN COMMUNITY HALL

It is so disappointing to see bottles and cans etc., left outside the bins in Kilbehenny Community Centre.    This centre is very well kept by the members of the DSP team who also look after the environs of the hall and the village, a job they do with great detail.  Please, please if you come to the bottle banks, bins etc., and they are full, will you do the decent thing and bring your bottles etc., home with you and return another day when the banks are emptied.   They are emptied on a regular basis.  It is disgusting to see these items of rubbish strewn in front of the bottle banks.  Remember, you are not codding anyone only yourself as there is CCTV in the community centre.    We know who you are.

Thank you to the members of the DSP team who work so diligently in Kilbehenny Community Centre and throughout the village and the Church grounds and the inside of the Church.  Their work is a credit to them.   Also thank you to the volunteers who run the various events in the community centre.   It is a very much utilised centre and that's great to see.

AGM OF KILBEHENNY  COMMUNITY CENTRE

Please note that the AGM of Kilbehenny Community Centre will take place in the centre on Monday 12th January 8pm.  Everybody welcome.   We would like to see a good attendance from the community.   Remember, it is your hall, so come along and have your say as to what you would like to see being run in the community centre.

BINGO

Bingo continues every Sunday night 8pm.    Thank you for your support during 2025.  Looking forward to your continued support for 2026.

CHRISTMAS  EVE  MASS

A huge Thank You to Fr. Joe Tynan for the beautiful Vigil Mass at 6pm  that he celebrated on Christmas Eve in Kilbehenny to a packed Church.   It was truly a celebration both for adults and  children alike.  Fr. Joe brought along his Mother who was most welcome to the congregation.  Fr. Joe you made a great contribution to our Mass with your lovely guitar playing and the fact that you invited the children up to sing with you.  It truly was a celebration to behold.  Every good wish going forward as Parish Priest.

Well done to Ciara Heenan who played the organ for the Mass.   Ciara you did very well and I'm sure  Siobhan  was very proud of you while looking down from her Heavenly home.
